The Wild West, unexplored arid lands, adventure around every canyon, a tough yet simple life, accompanied by your faithful steed, heading towards the setting sun... It all sounds great, but you still need to earn your keep and enough to buy one or two shots of booze at the saloon! Work? Are you kidding me? You don’t want a life of hard labor toiling on a dry and barren land. You want to carve your name into the history books! And what better way to do that than to become an outlaw, like Jesse James, Billy The Kid, or Calamity Jane? And not just any outlaw... Public Enemy Number One!
Travel from town to town to meet the most famous criminals of the Wild West! Evade law enforcement. Dodge the relentless Bounty Hunters that your opponents, also eager for fame, send after you. Use Swindlers to corrupt their minions and increase your influence. And finally, with cunning, audacity, and a bit of luck, become the most renowned Outlaw the West has ever known!
There are 12 Outlaw cards in each of the 4 City decks. These 12 cards include 3 Outlaws from 4 different gangs. The 12 cards in the Saloon deck contain 4 Bounty Hunters, 4 Swindlers and 4 Sheriffs.
Bounty Hunters allow you to DELETE an uncovered card from one of your opponents' collections.
Swindlers allow you to STEAL an uncovered card from one of your opponents' collections and add it to your own collection.
And the Sheriffs, who DELETE an uncovered card from one of YOUR collections.
Each turn, draw one card from the 5 decks available: Tombstone, Dodge City, Deadwood or the Saloon and place it face up in front of you.
If you have drawn a Saloon card, apply its effect immediately.
If you have drawn a card from a city's deck, reveal the next card in the deck to replace it. When you have several cards from the same gang, group them together.
The next player then plays (clockwise).
That's it.
Yes, I know, it's very simple.
The round ends as soon as one of the 5 decks has no cards left OR you have 1 card from each gang. It can go very quickly, so pay attention to what your opponents are doing.
Points are calculated in 2 phases: Wanted tokens and One token.
Wanted tokens are earned on the majority of outlaws you own. In other words, if you have more outlaws of the same gang than your opponents, you win the Wanted token of the gang concerned.
Outlaw card combinations earn points. If you have more points than your opponents, you win the One token.
Is that there are 4 optional rules. No expert mode or anything, just little rules to spice up your games.
Without going into detail, there are :
1 - "For a Fistful of Dollars", a spent Dollars tile allows you to take a look at the first unrevealed card in a deck OR place the revealed card under the deck and reveal a new one, BEFORE playing.
2 - "Cavalry", this token allows you to temporarily block access to a town... to annoy your opponents.
3 - "Supremacy", gives a gang the upper hand during a round. It usually adds to the atmosphere around the table.
4 - "Duel in the sun" is used to break a tie. You place six Bullet randomly in front of you, and in turn, each player turns over a Bullet. There are 5 Clicks and one Bang. The first player to turn over a Bang shoots the other player, who takes the token. OK, it's luck, but it's more fun than a coin toss.
